Sahil, Mainstream School child

sahil
Dear Paavnee, Keshav, Seema, and Skye,

Sahil’s parents, Naseenbano and Sultan, migrated to Kanpur a few years back in search of a livelihood and now reside at the Dhamikheda Construction site area in Kanpur city, Uttar Pradesh. His father is a daily wage labourer and his mother works as a domestic servant. Sahil is the youngest child in his family- he has three older brothers and two sisters.

When his family first moved to Kanpur, Sahil got himself enrolled in the Apna Skool centre (the informal education centres run by Jagriti) nearest his house. Though he had never been to school before, Sahil proved to be a bright and diligent student, and worked his way through grades 1 to 5 at Apna Skool. Since he was interested in pursuing his studies, Jagriti got him enrolled at a secondary school in Kanpur, where he is currently studying in grade 10. Sahil is doing well in school, and takes the lead in the Annual Day functions and other cultural activities. He also continues to maintain his links with the Apna Skool where he studied earlier- he regularly visits the Centre, and teaches and assists the younger children.

Thank you, Paavnee (x5), Keshav and Seema (x6). Your generosity will ensure that Sahil is able to continue his education, and realise his ambition of studying further.

Thank you, Skye, for donating a year of study materials to Sahil, which will help him immensely.
