Ranjan loves playing kho-kho!

Ranjan-789x1024
Twelve year old Ranjan is the first kid in the family of five children to study. His parents, Buddhan and Sunaina Devi did not have any land in their village, Pali in the state of Bihar (India) which they could have possible cultivated and hence the family migrated to Kanpur to work as laborers at various brick-kilns and construction sites. His siblings work full-time along with the parents at the brick-kiln to help the family make both ends meet. He also works at the brick-kiln for three to four hours (from 6 am to 8 am before he goes to school and from 2 pm to 4 pm after school).

Ranjan is currently studying in the fifth grade. He is particularly good at Mathematics and Hindi. His favorite sport is Kho-Kho (an Indian sport played by teams of twelve players who try to avoid being touched by members of the opposing team). He also enjoys watching various educational and entertainment movies screened by the “Apna Skool” team on various occasions. Ranjan aspires to become a teacher so that he can educate many more children like himself.
