Tulsi loves conducting simple science experiments

Tulsi (Panki)
Dear Uma, Elena and Shanen, Gillian, Jeffrey, James and Julie, Craig, Thomas, Ted and Pam, and Sarah,

Fourteen year old Tulsi’s family migrated to Kanpur from Chattisgarh 9 years back. He lives with his parents and four siblings (two brothers and two sisters) in a slum community in Kanpur. His parents, Hardev and Jagvati, are manual laborers working for daily wages.

Tulsi was enrolled in an Apna Skool education center for five years. He was a bright student, and since his family, unlike many others, doesn’t migrate back to the village during the monsoons, his parents were happy when Jagriti got him enrolled in grade 6 in a private school in Kanpur. Tulsi is now in grade 7, and is doing well academically. He loves science, and takes a keen interest in conducting simple science experiments. He took part in the annual Science Fair held in his school last year, and intends doing so this year too.

Tulsi wants to join the Indian Army when he grows up. His hobbies include playing cricket and taking part in theatrical productions. Despite graduating from the Apna Skool education centre, he keeps in touch with his old school, and takes pride in coaching the younger kids during the vacations. In the picture, you can see Tulsi conducting a science experiment.

Your donation of a month of tuition each, Elena and Shanen, Gillian, Jeffery, James and Julie, Craig (x2), Thomas (x2), Ted and Pam (x2) and Sarah (x2), will ensure that Tulsi can go to school for a full year.

Your donation, Uma, of a year of school supplies is also much appreciated.

Thank you for taking him closer to his dream.
